PoHS Varsity High School Football Coach- Poultney High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate varsity high school football coach to lead and inspire our student-athletes in their pursuit of excellence on and off the field.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for coaching and mentoring our football team, fostering a positive team culture, and developing the skills and character of our student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities: Coaching and Instruction: Organize and conduct daily football practices, including drills, conditioning, and skill development.
Teach proper football techniques, strategies, and game fundamentals.
Prepare and implement effective practice plans to maximize player development.
Game Management: Plan and coordinate game-day strategies, including play calling and player rotations.
Provide leadership and direction during football games, making real-time decisions to maximize the team's performance.
Player Development: Foster an environment of growth, discipline, and respect among the student-athletes.
Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and character development both on and off the field.
Identify and nurture the individual strengths and talents of each player.
Administrative Duties: Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, and school administration.
Assist with player recruitment and team promotion to ensure program sustainability.
Manage equipment and maintain an organized inventory.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure the safety of all players by adhering to proper safety protocols and first aid measures.
Stay up-to-date with and adhere to all rules, regulations, and policies of the Vermont Principals' Association (VPA) and the school.
Qualifications: Previous coaching experience, preferably in high school football.
Knowledge of football rules, strategies, and techniques.
Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills.
Commitment to the safety, character development, and academic success of student-athletes.
Willingness to complete required coaching certifications and background checks.
